This is the result of 5 rings remodeled into 2 showstoppers!
The original 5 rings have been accumulated over a 30-year relationship. The three-stone center resembles each decade and also each member of the family of three. To be honest I didn’t realise this resemblance until after but I guess some things are meant to be.
Most of the 18ct gold was from the old rings, we added a bit to it and melt it all together. A few of the old rings were 9ct gold, which we were able to credit the value off the cost of the new rings. We added brand new platinum and a few small diamonds of the same size, colour, and clarity to complete the halo.

I had the pleasure of making this very special custom locket.
The wheat grains are from a field where the customer’s brother sadly passed away after the plane he was in crash-landed in it. It’s hard for me to even share this incredible story so for the customer to share this with us, and entrust JTaranaki Jewellery with an object so personal to her was an honor. Where I’m from we call such treasures Taonga.
Attention to detail and care goes into everything I make and the stories behind the pieces (like this one) never leave my subconscious while I’m making them. Sometimes jewellery can be superficial so to connect the human spirit to an object with jobs like this is really cool!

It was an absolute pleasure to put all the skills to the test on this remake.
We simplified the design by only using the step-cut stones (baguettes and emerald) and adding a pair of trapezium cuts. The trapeziums are the perfect stone (same colour, clarity, short side length as the baguettes) to create a wall of diamonds that lead up to the central 2.0ct cognac diamond.
Platinum and 18ct rose gold started as square bars and went through all the atrocities of traditional hand-making to finally arrive at there current state.
