By far my most creatively rewarding piece. These are a reflection of JTaranaki true custom designs - Conceptually I am more governed by the “how” than the “why” so by stripping back all unnecessary details this piece focuses on how the timber is connected to the silver. How??? Gold lugs pass through each material at a 45 degree angle and are mushroomed over at the ends locking the 3 materials together. The junctions where the materials meet creates the focal detail, or, the why. I guess for me, good design is the magic that happens when something is pleasing to the eye as a bye product of creative ingenuity. - Jacob Taranaki
