The art of hand-making custom jewellery is a dying craft, but thankfully, some jewellers are still upholding this tradition. At JTaranaki Jewellery, we are passionate about keeping this art alive. We create 100% handmade custom jewellery that is made locally in Newcastle, New South Wales.

The process of creating handmade jewellery is a unique and labour-intensive one. We start by sketching out a design, and then hand carve the piece out of wax. Once the design is perfect, we cast it in the metal of choice, clean it up, and then hand set the stones. This process allows us to create a piece that is truly one of a kind.

Unfortunately, there is much controversy within the jewellery industry about people claiming that their pieces are handmade when really they are only hand-carving from wax and then sending it off to a factory to be cast and cleaned up. This process results in the jewellery not being work hardened, which means that it does not last as long as jewellery that is 100% handmade.
